During the month of February, our school community came together to celebrate Black History Month through meaningful learning activities and student-led projects.

From February 23rd to February 27th, students and staff participated in a spirited Black History Month Spirit Week, celebrating culture, history, and the achievements of African Americans. Throughout the week, students also worked diligently on their Black History Month Museum projects, researching influential historical figures and important moments in history. These projects allowed students to explore history creatively while developing their research and presentation skills.

The celebration culminated with our Black History Month Programs held on Friday, February 27, 2026, at St. Martin’s Catholic Church (1908 North Capitol St NW). Families and staff joined us to watch students present performances, share their learning, and honor the contributions of Black leaders, innovators, and trailblazers.

Program Schedule:

  • PreK – 1st Grade: 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM

  • 2nd – 5th Grade: 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM

We are incredibly proud of our students for their hard work and thoughtful presentations. Events like these help build a deeper understanding of history, celebrate diversity, and strengthen our school community.

Thank you to our students, staff, and families for making this celebration meaningful and memorable.
