The Culture Fair occurred on January 25, 2024, from 2:45 – 3:30!

Our pre-k students are ending their unit on culture titled Not All the Same, Not All Different. To share what they learned, the pre-kindergarten team hosted a Culture Fair where Harmony students experienced food, clothes, celebrations, art, and language from various countries.

Did you know that one in seven D.C. residents is an immigrant, while about one in nine residents is a native-born U.S. citizen with at least one immigrant parent? This year, we celebrated the countries represented by DC’s top 6 immigrant populations:

El Salvador (PKM)
China (PKM)
Turkey (PK3)
Ethiopia (PK3)
Trinidad (PK4)
Mexico (PK4)

With the support of their parents and teachers, our pre-K students researched an aspect of culture from one of the countries listed and presented their findings to the school, along with their collaborators. The research projects were exhibited in Harmony’s cafeteria for the entire school to experience.

Our students worked tirelessly on their projects, and your presence and interest in their work meant the world to them. The energy and curiosity that filled the venue were a testament to the vibrant community we have at Harmony DC.

From interactive displays to engaging conversations, the Science Fair showcased the incredible talent and dedication of our students. It was inspiring to see our school community come together to celebrate science, innovation, and the pursuit of knowledge.

We extend our gratitude to the parents, teachers, staff, and students who played a role in making this event a success. Your commitment to fostering a love for science and learning is what makes our school community so special.

Thank you once again for your support. We look forward to more collaborative and inspiring events in the future.
