Subject: Blacktop Incident Update

Dear Harmony DC Families,

Providing a safe environment for our students and faculty is and will remain our top priority. Another of our priorities is to keep you informed and be as transparent as possible about your children’s education, our school, and relevant events.

Therefore, I want to inform you about an incident that happened earlier this month.

One of our students has fallen on the blacktop at the school playground. We are deeply sorry for the pain and suffering caused by these injuries and thankful that they were not more severe. We care deeply about the well-being of all students, so I’m reaching out today to share how we are upgrading the playground to prevent future incidents.

First and foremost, I want to reassure you that your child’s safety is our utmost priority. Our dedicated staff provides constant supervision for students, and we have bolstered the number of supervisors during recess and lunch periods. Furthermore, following the incident, we immediately contacted the building’s owners to request repairs to any cracks or holes in the blacktop. These repairs are scheduled to be completed over the weekend, ensuring a safe environment for our students.

We have also discussed with the building owners the possibility of implementing a long-term solution by installing rubber flooring or mulch around the playground equipment and the blacktop. This is aimed at providing better protection for students from fall injuries in the future. We are collaborating with the building owners to find a solution over the summer, ahead of the next school year, and we will keep you updated on our progress.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.

Thank you for your continued support,

Best,
